Montana Running Ranchers: Robert Majerus, White Sulphur Springs

Montana Running Ranchers logoToday’s we’ll continue with a series on the Montana Running Ranchers relay team. The team will be participating in the Ragnar 200-mile relay event in Hawaii, October 14-15, 2016. The team uses this event as an advocacy opportunity to share the message of beef in a healthy diet and Montana ranching with runners and athletes from across the country. Today’s featured Montana Running Rancher is Robert Majerus from White Sulphur Springs. Robert manages the Smith River Wilderness Ranch with his family – Kristy (wife), Zoey (daughter,5), Zaiden (son 1 month). This is Robert’s first year with the relay team and he took time to answer a few questions for us.

Longest Distance run or plan to run?

The longest distance I have raced is a 9.2 mile run in Peaks to Prairie.  I plan on doing at least one half marathon this summer.  Looking at Missoula Marathon.

How did you become interested in running?

In junior high and high school, I participated in track and enjoyed running the longer distances.  I took a long hiatus from running after serving in the Army.  About 5 or 6 years ago I started running again and love it more than ever before.

How has the Running Ranchers team and or Team Beef made an impact on you?

This is my first year being a part of team beef and running ranchers.  So far I’ve found the group to be very positive and motivating.

Why should ranchers consider supporting our relay team and or team beef program?

I feel that people today are too disconnected with their food and where it comes from.  Team Beef and running ranchers are helping to inform and educate the public on beef and how it can be a part of a healthy lifestyle.
